Our Organization
South Texas Lighthouse is a 501(c)(3) charitable, not-for-profit organization that provides many opportunities for people who are blind to be productive and independent. Our mission is to Employ, Educate, and Empower our neighbors with vision loss. We employ individuals who are blind and/or visually impaired to give them a means to be independent and through our upward mobility program they have an opportunity to move into higher positions of management. We educate our communities on blind etiquette and work together to create an environment that is safe and accessible to not only persons who are blind or visually disabled but to those that have other disabilities as well. Through this work we also strive to empower our employees to achieve their goals and continue living life with hope, optimism, and determination.

Message from the CEO
As I reflect on the history of South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind (STLB), I am extremely proud of how far we have come since our humble beginnings in 1964. Today, we employ over 175 individuals in the areas of manufacturing, retail, and administration and have operations throughout the United States. Our manufacturing division provides employment opportunities with competitive wages and a comprehensive benefit package. With two manufacturing facilities in Corpus Christi and Victoria, we produce a variety of products for the military, federal, and state governments. Our Office Product lines include index tabs, 350 varieties of binders, mouse pads, and envelopes. Our Sewn Product department manufactures pilots and tactical gloves, as well as chinstraps for the military. In addition, we package and supply a variety of office products and janitorial supplies to the State of Texas. Our manufacturing facility is one of the first among non-profits like ours to be certified in the ISO9000 Quality Management System.
South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind also operates eight Base Supply Stores and two HazMat operations on several military bases spanning from Mississippi to Hawaii along with an e-commerce website. Your purchases through our ecommerce site also helps provide employment opportunities for those who are blind or visually impaired. The stores sell items produced by some of the other 90 agencies across the country that employ persons who are blind or severely disabled, with a wide variety of items offered office supplies to furniture.

Our Base Supply Centers. . .
South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind operates eight base supply stores and two HazMat locations on several military bases spanning from Mississippi to Hawaii. These stores also employ individuals who are blind or visually impaired. These venues permit us to sell our own products, while generating more business for other agencies like ours. The stores also supply office furniture and numerous brands of office essentials to government personnel. We not only impact the community in Corpus Christi and Victoria, but everywhere our base stores are located, and we continue to look at other opportunities to grow.
